Hukerenui School

9 Crows Nest Rd, Hukerenui

Hukerenui School has become a TREEmendous School after transforming its boundary fence area into an outdoor learning zone.

The school planted hundreds of bee-friendly trees and plants and cleaned up the area to help the skink population thrive – and create an area that will not only be fun, but a student led educational learning space to help students develop their understanding of their local environment.

Ex-student and Deputy Prime Minister Rt Hon Winston Peters was also in attendance to help inspire the students in their environmental endeavours.

Teachers, students, the wider community as well as Mazda Foundation Trustees and the team from Project Crimson all helped to plant a total of 637 natives.
