Oakura School transformed a boggy, unused hillside into an outdoor classroom with pathways surrounded in native trees, a community orchard, compost area with a worm farm, and a camping site.

The students now use the space to enjoy hands-on experience in all aspects of the curriculum and it has enabled them to get up close and personal with nature and wildlife, which they can observe from the specially created viewing platform.
